Public Toilet Related Issues
Vandalism, anti-social behaviour and crime are often associated with public toilets. At Danfo we have made it a priority to prevent such incidents. Our public toilet buildings and maintenance programme are designed with this in mind.
Vandalism
Completely stopping acts of vandalism in the public sphere is impossible. However, Danfo has developed products that are remarkably resistant to damage and wear and tear.
The interior and exterior of our public toilets are made of durable materials and everything undergoes rigorous testing. Sensitive functions are integrated in the walls and service area, which is off limits to the public. This means that there is no access to electronics and other expensive pieces of equipment.
Our own studies have shown that a vandalised unit deteriorates more quickly than a well-maintained public toilet. The daily inspections that form part of Danfo’s maintenance programme ensures that problems are discovered and rectified quickly, another preventative measure.
Personal Safety
Some people hesitate to use public toilets because of feelings of unease or lack of security. This should not be acceptable.
Danfo’s public toilets are built with safety as our first priority. We only provide separate toilet rooms, eliminating the risk of attacks from someone hiding in an adjacent booth. All rooms have sturdy doors and locks and the buildings are always equipped with safety lighting.
With our long experience we are also happy to provide advice on how to create the safest environment outside of the public toilet.
Anti-Social Behaviour
Drinking, drugs and homelessness are social problems that can spill over into public toilets. When that happens, the general public are prevented from using the facilities. Danfo has a number of strategies to combat this.
Technical inventions such as overstay alarms and heart monitors can be fitted in our public toilet buildings. These allow a closer monitoring of the installation and a warning system for potentially misbehaving visitors. New technologies are constantly being developed by our Research and Development department, so please contact us if you have concerns about anti-social behaviour in your public toilets and we will identify the best solution for your circumstances.
Another powerful tool to prevent anti-social behaviour is on-site presence. Danfo has found that this presence does not have to be constant, but rather than a roving inspection at irregular intervals has the best results. For Facilities Management clients, we are happy to tailor an inspection schedule that deals with this.
