Keyhaven toilet block

New state-of-the-art toilet facilities have been opened at Keyhaven in time for the summer season.

New Forest District Council’s £145,000 project to refurbish the waterfront public conveniences was officially completed last week.

The existing building, in the council’s car park in Keyhaven Road, has been retained while the internal facilities have been replaced with technology designed to combat vandalism.

The toilet block provides independent unisex cubicles, each containing a hand basin and toilet. An additional toilet cubicle for people with disabilities, and baby changing facilities, has also been included in the build.

The toilets were designed and installed by Swedish company Danfo (UK) Ltd to ensure that high levels of cleanliness can be maintained, while reducing the potential for anti-social behaviour. It is expected that the design of the facility will offer a reduction in the council’s expenditure on cleansing.

Councillor Edward Heron, NFDC portfolio holder for environment, Cllr Michael Pemberton and Cllr Christine Ford attended the official handover at Keyhaven with Danfo Operations Manager Claudio Catino and Sales Executive Mandy Maxted.
